an analysis of the human race

We are not perfect,
nor are we meant to be.
We make mistakes,
sometimes more than we should.
But you can't live with regrets,
it will only eat you alive.
We are more than the mistakes we've made.
They have brought us here,
to this exact point in time.
You are supposed to be here,
at this specific hour, moment, second.
We are human.
We are not supposed to be perfect.
We hurt people,
maybe too many to count.
We are not perfect.
We have hope in things that may seem hopeless.
We have faith in people that may not deserve it.
It is in our blood.
We don't give up.
We couldn't, even if we tried to.
This is our humanity.
There is some unknown force of nature that keeps telling us to move on,
to keep going.
Whether the force is a god or the fact that the sun always rises again.
We are human.
We are not perfect,
nor will we ever be,
nor would I want to.
We lose people,
too many people,
and most times not by choice.
We fight for what we believe in,
even if it's a losing battle.
We fight until we can't fight anymore,
and sometimes we do lose.
But that unknown force tells us to get back up off the ground,
dust off our knees,
and we carry on.
