Many interesting things are happening in Campus Ministry! With new campus ministers, Mrs. Estes, Mrs. Haidemenos, and Mr. Russo, along with the new Chaplain here at the Academy, Father Woodhouse, there are many service projects and opportunities that are well underway.

Here at La Salle, every student attends a retreat once a year. These are days that allow students to relax, take a step back, bond, and reflect on their spiritual lives. Freshman homerooms started going on retreats at the end of September. The class of 2018 participated in the challenge and ropes course at the Mother of Hope Camp in Chepachet. These retreats consisted of fun, laughter, and balance out there on the ropes!

As always at La Salle, the opening of school mass was a success. On a beautiful sunny September morning, the entire Lasallian community gathered on the bleachers in the Lou Cimini Stadium to hear Father Woodhouse say mass. The liturgy was complete with harmonious music from the chorus. On September 21, the Freshman Liturgy for class of 2020 was celebrated at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, which joyfully welcomed the family, friends, and students into the Lasallian community. The Junior class gathered at Saint Pius V Church for the Junior Celebration Mass on October 19.

As for the Seniors, Christian Service has already finished for a quarter of the class of 2017. Almost 80 students are participating in 22 various service sites in the Providence area. Through their service, the seniors will continue to see their work help all of God’s people.

Aside from what is happening for each class here at La Salle, Lasallian Youth is a great opportunity for all. Through this service group, students have been

serving at Amos House and Mary House. On October 7, Lasallian Youth members helped out at the PALS (Parents at La Salle) breadlines. Also, Lasallian Youth held a Halloween party for the mothers and chldren at the McAuley Village which took place on October 27. All these works of service have and will continue to be successful in helping many feel God’s love.

Get involved in service! Ultimately, helping others will help yourself. It is never too late to join Lasallian Youth! Contact Mrs. Estes in Campus Ministry if you are interested in these and more amazing opportunities to help others!
