It is no news that rumors of new additions and construction projects have been circulating La Salle hallways. But what most are asking is: how many of those rumors are true? In a recent interview, Brother Thomas Gerrow informed the Maroon and White of what to expect in terms of renovations this year and years to come. He describes it as “a 20 year master plan,” with ideas for expansion and improvements for La Salle.
Improvements in the Arts Hallway began last winter and were completed before the end of last schoolyear. The new wall colors and tile floor will are complemented with a gallery composed of La Salle Arts program photos.
Starting last Spring vacation, renovations in the ladies half of the athletic center hallway took place. This includes replacement of light fixtures with newer more efficient LED lights, repainted walls, and a tile floor that will match the one in the arts hallway. Brother Thomas hopes to create a way to display the sports championship trophies along the hallway for all to see. The biggest addition we can expect to see completed is a padded room dedicated to sports such as cheerleading and wrestling. This will be located next to the dance room in the athletic center.
Preceding the 2016 school year, a few summer projects were motion. The windows in the auditorium have been replaced and with new high efficiency lighting fixtures. Outside on the baseball fields, 5 new batting cages have been added to help expand the practice area and accommodate every team.
La Salle can expect to see many new additions and renovations in the years to come. Brother Thomas has many goals for improving our already beautiful school and staying one step ahead. Although all these goals rely on time, the future for La Salle, as always, is bright.
